MINUTES OF BRUSLY PLANNING COMMISSION
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
July 24, 2002

The regular monthly meeting of the Brusly Planning Commission was held on July 24, 2002 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairperson Carroll Fontenot at 6:30 P.M.

Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Rosa Stelly, Leslie Crockett, Claudette Purnell, Henry Couvillon.

Members absent: Debbie Thompson.

Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Don Neisler, Mayor Joey Normand, Joanne Bourgeois, Skipper Grady, Billy Ward, Mrs. Leslie Crockett.

Upon motion of Mrs. Rosa Stelly seconded by Mr. Jules Thibodaux, the minutes of the June 26, 2002 meeting were approved as written. Motion carried unanimously.

Plat Submittals:

1. Mr. Billy Ward submitted a plat showing the re-subdivision of the Charles Marionneaux and Minta S. Marionneaux lot on the corner of LaBauve Avenue and Allene Street into three lots.

Mr. Jules Thibodaux made a motion to advertise said re-subdivision for public hearing at the next meeting on August 28, 2002. Motion was seconded by Mrs. Claudette Purnell and carried unanimously.

2. Mrs. Leslie Crockett submitted a request for approval to subdivide estate property on Bourgeois Street between St. Landry and St. John Streets.

Mr. Jules Thibodaux made a motion to advertise said subdivision for public hearing at the next meeting on August 28, 2002. Motion was seconded by Mrs. Rosa Stelly and carried unanimously. Mr. Leslie Crockett abstained from voting.

There was no other business to come before the Planning Commission.

Mr. Henry Couvillon made a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Rosa Stelly seconded motion and it carried unanimously.

Meeting of the Planning Commission adjourned at 6:40 P.M.

MINUTES OF BRUSLY ZONING COMMISSION
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
July 24, 2002

The regular monthly meeting of the Brusly Zoning Commission was held on July 24, 2002 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairperson Carroll Fontenot at 6:41 P.M.

Members present: Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Rosa Stelly, Leslie Crockett, Claudette Purnell, Henry Couvillon.

Members absent: Debbie Thompson.

Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Don Neisler, Mayor Joey Normand, Joanne Bourgeois, Skipper Grady, Mrs. Leslie Crockett.

Upon motion of Mr. Jules Thibodaux seconded by Mr. Leslie Crockett, the minutes of the June 26, 2002 meeting were approved as written. Motion carried unanimously.

The Ordinance to amend and re-enact Article B of Chapter 19 of the Code of Ordinances of the Town of Brusly, Louisiana (Zoning) was discussed and Mr. Don Neisler gave a summary of the proposed changes as follows:

•Housekeeping Changes;
•Terminology Updates;
•Define responsibilities of the Mayor & Council, the Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustment;
•Delete Swimming Pools;
•Name collector and arterial streets;
•Define and provide for local group homes;
•Revise residential accessory requirements and uses;
•Add definitions adopted by the Council;
•Revise provisions for non-conforming uses;
•Eliminate flood fringe areas due to FEMA map changes;
•Change minimum square footage requirement in R-8;
•Add prohibited uses in commercial zones;
•Move industries in L-1 to Heavy Industrial;
•Revise requirements for Mobile Home.

Mrs. Rosa Stelly made a motion to advertise the proposed changes for Public Hearing to be held on August 28, 2002. Motion was seconded by Mr. Henry Couvillon and carried unanimously.

REZONING REQUESTS:

1.A request for rezoning from R-1 to C-1, that portion of the Peavy property located behind the Brusly Landing Café which is presently zoned residential.

Mr. Jules Thibodaux made a motion to advertise the request for Public Hearing to be held on August 28, 2002. Motion carried unanimously.

There was no other business to come before the Zoning Commission.

Mrs. Claudette Purnell made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Henry Couvillon seconded motion and it carried unanimously.

The meeting of the Zoning Commission adjourned at 7:00 P.M.
