Town Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes – Wednesday, March 25, 2009

MINUTES OF THE BRUSLY PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
March 25, 2009

A regular meeting of the Brusly Planning & Zoning Commission was held on Wednesday March 25, 2009 in the Council Meeting Room, Brusly Town Hall, Brusly, Louisiana. Chairman Shane Sarradet called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

Members present: Shane Sarradet, Jules Thibodaux, Carroll Fontenot, Rosa Stelly, Gary Soniat.

Members absent: Claudette Purnell, Steve Perkins.
Others present: Marianne Berthelot, Mayor Joey Normand, Joanne Bourgeois, Landess Hebert, Arlen Landry, Jonathan Bernard, Joel Tingle, Kim Lemoine.

Upon motion by Mrs. Stelly, seconded by Mr. Thibodaux, the minutes of the February 25, 2009 meeting were approved as written.

The Chairman welcomed new member, Mr. Gary Soniat, to the Commission.
PLANNING

There were no planning matters on the Agenda.

ZONING

• A request for a variance submitted by Jonathan and Paula Bernard to construct a permanent structure on the northern 8 feet of the drainage servitude on the rear of their property at 408 Gleason Street.

The commission reviewed Mr. Bernard’s plan. Mr. Thibodaux made a motion to recommend approval of the variance. The motion failed for lack of a second.

OTHER BUSINESS

• Under other business, Mr. Joel Tingle was recognized. He presented a schematic plan to subdivide his property at 1527 Allene Street into five lots. He was advised that this request will be placed on the April 22, 2009 Agenda for public hearing subject to receipt of the subdivision plat within the time limit for advertisement.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR YEAR 2009

• Shane Sarradet was elected Chairman for the year 2009. Carroll Fontenot was elected Vice Chairman.

There was no other business to come before the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Mr. Thibodaux made a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Stelly seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 6:50 PM.
